OpenAI client
Codex
Connect local stdio servers or remote Streamable HTTP endpoints. The CLI and IDE extension share the same MCP configuration.
Practical MCP setup for Codex, ChatGPT desktop, Claude, Unity 6, Roblox Studio, and compatible servers—without pretending every client, bridge, or transport works the same way.
CLIENTS, BRIDGES, AND TARGETS
MCP is the interface between an AI client and a tool server. Agent Hub explains the path and its trust boundary; each product still controls what it actually supports.
OpenAI client
Connect local stdio servers or remote Streamable HTTP endpoints. The CLI and IDE extension share the same MCP configuration.
OpenAI desktop client
Add stdio or Streamable HTTP servers from Settings. On the same host, the desktop app shares MCP configuration with Codex CLI and IDE.
Anthropic client
Register local processes over stdio or current remote servers over HTTP. Legacy SSE remains a migration path, not the default.
Anthropic desktop client
Use the desktop configuration file for local stdio bridges, then fully restart Claude Desktop so it can load the server.
Game editor target
Unity's supported relay can expose editor tools to an MCP client. The first connection still requires approval inside Unity.
Game editor target
Keep using the existing local Roblox bridge with Codex or Claude. It is an Agent Hub workflow, not an official Roblox integration.
Protocol ecosystem
Connect other trusted tools when their server and your chosen client use a compatible transport. Review every server before you run it.
SETUP WITHOUT THE GUESSWORK
Commands are useful only when you know what starts, where it runs, and what it can access.
Use stdio for a local process and Streamable HTTP or HTTP for a compatible remote endpoint. Do not paste one client's format into another.
Unity's relay is labeled official. The current Roblox bridge is labeled independent. Generic servers keep their own publisher and security model.
Review the executable, arguments, folders, and remote URL before connecting. First-time approval is a safety step, not setup friction.
A CLEAN CONNECTION LOOP
Select the client and target first. The guide then gives you the right configuration shape and a short verification path.
Follow the complete guideConfirm who publishes the server and which transport it exposes.
Keep the process local unless remote access is intentional and authenticated.
Use that client's configuration—not a look-alike snippet from another app.
Begin read-only where possible, then expand permissions only when the workflow needs them.
WHAT THE WINDOWS APP IS TODAY
Agent Hub Desktop 1.4.4 provides streamed AI chat, visible handoffs, profiles, and a Roblox-focused exclusive writer flow. The wider MCP library is setup guidance; it does not mean the desktop app natively manages every server listed above.

Choose your AI client, pick the target, and follow a transport-aware path with the important caveats visible before you run anything.
